O Vale da Decisão

É um vale próximo de Jerusalém, também chamado de Vale da Torrente do Cédrom, devido a um fluxo continuo de correntes de águas por ocasião de enchente repentina nos meses de inverno chuvosos. Se estende ao longo do muro oriental de Jerusalém, separando o Monte do Templo do Monte das Oliveiras.Continua ao leste pelo Deserto da Judéia, em direção ao Mar Morto. Na maior parte do tempo, este vale é quente e seco, sua descrição em hebraico indica que é um lugar escuro. Foi por este vale, que Davi fugiu da rebelião montada por seu filho Absalão:“ E toda a terra chorava a grandes vozes, passando todo o povo; também o rei passou o ribeiro de Cedrom, e passou todo o povo na direção do caminho do deserto.”II Samuel 15:23.

Nesse vale, Jesus caminhou com os discípulos: “Jesus saiu com os discípulos para além do ribeiro de Cedrom, onde havia um horto, no qual Ele entrou com os seus discípulos... porque Jesus muitas vezes se ajuntava ali com os discípulos” Jo 18:1, 2. Jesus atravessava a escuridão, os lugares secos, áridos, e ao final descansava no Monte das oliveiras. Ali Ele repousava seus pés. No final do vale, o Getsêmani.  Foi em um desses dias, de caminhada pelo Cedrom que o Mestre foi capturado. Judas, também conhecia o lugar, mas não compreendia as lições ministradas pelo caminho, à adoração que brotava dos lábios ao chegar ao monte. As sementes, não frutificavam no coração do rebelde discípulo. Para ele, não havia diferença entre vale e jardim. Porque seu insensível coração só objetivava o lucro material das situações.

Davi atravessou o Cedrom apenas com a roupa do corpo e alguns mantimentos, todos os seus “tesouros”, haviam ficado em Jerusalém em poder do filho que intentava tomar seu lugar no trono. Para Davi, o lugar seco e escuro, era muito mais valioso que todo o ouro existente no palácio. O vale representava sua comunhão com Deus, a paz e a alegria da salvação. Ele estava triste e abatido, mas sabia que o vale, acabaria, desembocaria em um lugar de conforto, por isso, era necessário prosseguir, ainda que houvesse lágrimas, prantos. E assim como Jesus, o rei, acampou com o povo no Monte das Oliveiras: “E aconteceu que, chegando Davi ao cume, parou para adorar a Deus...” II Sm 15:32.

Os problemas não acabaram ali, os inimigos ainda buscavam Davi. Ele, porém, recebeu vitória e livramento. Absalão ironicamente foi sepultado no vale de Cedrom, onde se ergueu um pilar com o seu nome: O pilar de Absalão. Conhecido até os dias de hoje. Cedrom é lugar de sepultar inimigos, maus que afligem.

Lugar de Decisão.
“Suscitem-se os gentios, e subam ao Vale de Jeosafá; pois ali me assentarei para julgar todos os gentios em redor... multidões, multidões no vale da decisão; porque o dia do Senhor está perto no vale da decisão”. Jl 3: 12-14. O vale de Jeosafá é um lugar escatológico, em que nações serão reunidas para julgamento.

Após o reinado de Josafá, o vale de Cedrom passou a ser conhecido por “Emek Yehoshafat: "O vale onde Deus julgará". O local servia de despejo de coisas imundas: “... também Asa desfez o seu ídolo horrível, e o queimou junto ao ribeiro de Cedrom.” I Rs 15:13 “... E também os levitas tomaram toda a imundícia do templo e levaram para o Ribeiro de Cedrom" II Cr 29:16.

Escavações recentes revelam que metros e mais metros de lixo eram acumulados em Cedrom e que o leito do arroio foi empurrado para o leste, chegando esse desvio a 21 metros em alguns lugares. O lixo da cidade e os pedaços dos subseqüentes muros têm-se acumulado nesse vale durante séculos, causando as modificações.

O Vale de Cedrom é lugar de decisão. Os peregrinos rumavam para lá decididos a lançar fora tudo que  os impedia de relacionar-se com Deus. Alguns choravam porque se desfaziam de objetos valiosos, outros eram hábeis em abandonar ali as abominações, na convicção de um novo modo de vida. Cedrom, sempre teve os mesmos desígnios tanto no Antigo como no Novo Testamento. Atravessar Cedrom significava se despojar de coisas que atrapalhavam o relacionamento com Deus. Foi assim com Davi, e creio ser isso que Jesus ensinou aos discípulos nas muitas vezes que por ali passou.

Cedrom em Nossas Vidas
Davi nos deixa a lição de que o Vale é lugar de comunhão: Ele preferiu o sofrimento de atravessar o vale a ter que guerrear com o filho Absalão, o que lhe traria amargura e inquietação no coração. Entre perder coisas e ganhar pessoas, Davi opta por vidas, na certeza de cumprir a vontade de Deus que concede o homem como bem mais precioso do universo. Cedrom tem começo, meio e fim. Nós escolhemos como atravessá-lo. As orações que Davi fez enquanto atravessava Cedrom, estão registradas no Salmo de número 3. Aqui apenas alguns versículos:

“Tu Senhor és um escudo para mim, a minha glória e o que exalta a minha cabeça, com a minha voz clamei ao Senhor, e ouviu-me desde o santo monte. Eu me deitei e dormi, acordei porque o Senhor me sustentou” (vs 1, 2,3)

O percurso não foi só de pranto, foi de milagres. Deus sustenta, aos seus filhos! Jamais os abandona. Ainda que a dor pareça não ter fim, mas o que confia é sustentado. É que a dor e a decepção poderiam ser maiores. Sem esperança e fé, ninguém enxerga o Jardim no final do Vale. Assim como Jesus atravessava o vale na companhia dos discípulos, Ele também atravessa conosco: “Quando passares pelas águas estarei contigo, e quando pelos rios, eles não te submergirão, quando passares pelo fogo, não te queimarás, nem a chama arderá em ti” Is 43:2

Passar por Cedrom implica renovar forças, firmar compromissos. Igualmente aos peregrinos da época de Jeosafá, que largavam ali as impurezas, as abominações de culto. Sofrer e não crescer, é vão.  "Ninguém banha-se duas vezes no mesmo rio”, dizia Heráclito de Éfeso. Na segunda vez, nem a pessoa nem o rio serão os mesmos. Se a água não se renovar, algo está errado. “Torrentes de água, correm pelo vale no inverno”. Sim, as torrentes, removerão “as marcas do séquito verão.”

Ao passar por “Cedrom”, lembre-se: Após o vale, fica o jardim. Há milagres, na travessia. Cabe a nós deixar todo “o lixo” no vale da decisão.
